GLORIOUS GOODWOOD DAY FOUR

Date Published: 30/07/2010

Weather is better today, glorious sunshine and temperatures have raised. We overcame the big drama yesterday when Mac’s cushion was left in the press room, but it arrived in the betting ring seconds before going on air.

There is little or no money in the betting ring and as always the exchanges have been dictating proceedings. At the time of writing all is quiet in the press room, only a handful of people and little or no distractions. Thank you for all your emails during the programme which I will answer in due course.

I love big handicaps and the opportunity to bet each-way a QUARTER first four places (please on-course bookmakers). There will be a time when I name and shame those who don’t.

Let’s crack into the card. It has to be Redwood for me in the first race after his run at Newmarket and Sri Putra seems a stupid price also. In the Stewards’ Sprint I have back Bagamayo a few times and he is worth another each-way but my bigger bet is going on Sea Of Leaves, she has been promising to land a large prize for some time now and with Kieren Fallon teaming up with Jim Goldie that’s good enough for me.

Totesport Mile and the stats say there is no point looking at those drawn below 17 which puts a line through most of the field obvious choice would be Oasis Dancer from stall 19 but my heart says Royal Destination ignore his run last time and just get on each-way.

The Long Game shouldn’t be the outsider of the whole field in the Richmond Stakes as I liked the way he won at Ascot. Hopefully the day is set fair now good luck and may you back plenty of winners
